Sony Portable Audio

Sony Signature Series Collection

The Signature Collection represents Sony’s huge experience in producing and delivering high quality audio recordings, distilled into a small group of personal audio products developed without compromise.

MDR-Z1R Headphones

These headphones combine cutting-edge technology with the finest craftsmanship, for the ultimate listening experience.

The newly developed diaphragm with magnesium dome and liquid crystal polymer edge enables up to 120-kHz playback in High-Resolution Audio. The result is unparalleled sound purity and precision.

Filtering out the unnecessary with resonance-free housing. A special acoustic filter controls the air resistance and eliminates any reverberations produced by driver movement, so that only clean, crisp frequencies get through.

The ergonomically crafted headphones are designed to comfortably encase your head in sound, preventing any from leaking and effectively delivering powerful lows. The genuine sheepskin ear pads cushion your ears in luxurious softness.

The enfolding design is tailored to wrap around the ear, sealing music in and keeping distractions out. Acoustics are reflected back toward your ears for the subtlest of sounds. The headband is flexible and light, yet durable, for a more natural over-ear fit. Beta titanium has high elasticity, which will return to its original shape even when bent. Genuine leather adds sturdiness and comfort. The hanger and slider are manufactured with thin and high rigid aluminum alloy, which provides optimal comfort for a long period of time without secular change.

The MDR-Z1R headphones have been engineered to deliver a wider frequency range, reproducing super low and super high frequencies of up to 120 kHz. The wider dynamic range richly reproduces every minuscule sound. The result is an immersive, captivating listening experience.

NW-WM1Z Premium Walkman with High-Resolution Audio

Building upon a wealth of experience in digital amp technology, Sony’s engineers developed the NW-WM1Z with detailed acoustics and natural sound qualities, resulting in a unique and truly pleasurable listening experience.

Enjoy the subtlest nuances of studio-quality sound in higher than CD quality with High-Resolution Audio. Passion for music unites every component from signal to speaker, so it feels like the artist is performing right in front of you. High-resolution audio files usually use a high sampling frequency of 96 kHz or 192 kHz at 24-bit.

The new S-Master HX digital amp technology, independently developed for Walkman, has evolved to be compatible with Native DSD, Balanced and high output power formats. It reduces distortion and noise across a wide range of frequencies for rich, full-bodied sound.

The NW-WM1Z supports native DSD (Direct Stream Digital) audio files, which are sourced early in the production process. This means they retain all the authentic detail of the original recording. The Walkman also features a balanced single plug, designed for the new ø0.17″ balanced connection cable. This separates left and right sound signals, while minimizing signal transmission loss and resulting sound deterioration.

TA-ZH1ES Premium Headphone Amplifier with DAC

The Sony TA-ZH1ES non-feedback S-Master technology maintains the purity of digital sound. The new TA-ZH1ES D.A. Hybrid Amplifier Circuit takes this one step further, enhancing its precision and sound quality with an analog feed-forward amp. The analog amplifier corrects the conversion error caused by switching amplification.

To achieve ultimate sound reproduction, S-Master HX digitally amplifies the music signal without any resulting transmission loss. However, at the final stage of amplification, the physical limits of the semiconductor unavoidably cause distortion: there has to be a trade-off between the high power and high speed response. We have developed the D.A. Hybrid Amplifier Circuit to overcome these physical limits.

Experience your music as the artist intended, in near High-Resolution Audio quality. Sony’s new DSEE HX™ upscaling technology features four additional modes to the standard: female vocal, male vocal, percussion and strings, for optimal sound reproduction.

Offering double the conversion accuracy of previous models, the new DSD Remastering Engine let you convert all PCM music sources into DSD 11.2 MHz. The technology uses FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) to convert any signal into the DSD sound format.

Sony’s DC Phase Linearizer works to effectively replicate the phase character of a typical analog amplifier. It matches the phase characteristics of the analog amplifier to deliver a more analog-like sound.

The TA-ZH1ES features a rigid FBW Chassis, which has been designed to isolate the circuit board from vibration. By minimizing vibration and preventing lateral movement, noise is reduced for a cleaner, purer sound. The amplifier’s top panel is made from a combination of steel and aluminum. These materials each have their own resonance frequency, and when used in combination, they suppress each other. The TA-ZH1ES also features an innovative chassis design. The structure of the baseplate supporting the FBW chassis has two layers for enhanced rigidity and a low center of gravity. This added protection and durability enhances sound quality.
