On Friday, May 4th, Century Stereo once again established its relevance in the marketplace and in the industry by hosting over 150 guests and representatives from 23 manufacturers for our 2nd annual expo, LifeTech 2012.
Our goal every year is to offer something for everyone by blending demonstrations of cutting edge technology, highly sought after products and engaging activities that appeal to audio video enthusiasts and the whole family. Along with these demonstrations, attendees can expect food, beverages, raffle prizes, free give-a-ways and lots of fun! A new edition to the platform this year was offering seminars on emerging trends. These seminars were more popular than anticipated and most rooms were SRO (standing room only) the entire night.
For the audiophile, we hosted digital and analog music seminars. In a nod to Century Stereo’s heritage, we worked with Streetlight Records to bring our guests the NEW Analog Experience where we focused on two-channel audio with vinyl as our source. In this seminar our guests learned about turntables, vacuum tube electronics, reference audio speakers, cables and power conditioning. In the digital music seminar our guests learned about integrating digital sources like computer audio into a stereo system and about wirelessly distributing music throughout the home.
For the videophile, we hosted seminars on 4K video and talked about the future of content and storage. In the Future of Content and Storage seminar, our clients saw two of the most fantastic interfaces in the industry on two of the most coveted video sourced on the planet. They also learned how the cloud will be part of your entertainment future. In the 4K video seminar, clients learned about this emerging video standard, about what it takes to support this vide resolution and about its practical uses today.
For the technophile, we used and iPad and demonstrated how all of these wonderful audio and video components can be controlled with a single interface and showed how lighting, HVAC and the home entertainment system can work seamlessly from a single control platform that we are all familiar with.
In our other rooms, like the McIntosh Experience and the Paradigm/Anthem room our guests were blown away by amazing music demos. Mark LeClair from McIntosh took our guest through a musical timeline discussing the rich heritage of McIntosh Laboratories. He debuted the new speakers from McIntosh that we literally put on display the day before. With virtually no break in time, we were stunned by just how good they really are.
We officially closed out the evening by announcing winners to our raffle in which we gave away over $8000 dollars in prizes. One guests commented on winning the 26 disc concert collection from Kaleidescape by saying he was “still smiling from ear to ear, watching them with family and friends”.
At Century Stereo we want to continue to be a resource to our clients and our network by providing events like these. Look for our new series of events, 3rd Thursdays at Century Stereo starting in June. Each month we will have a mini event on a given topic where industry experts will be present to answer questions and really drill down on that topic.
We want to hear from you. What did you think of the expo? What would you like to learn about at future events?
